In-Home Dog Training in HRM Since 2009

The Fastest Way To The Dog Of Your Dreams, Guaranteed!

Private one-on-one training for difficult dogs with 12 months of ongoing support.

What Clients Are Saying

Before training with Ted, Levi was terrible on the leash and very reactive to dogs so we stopped taking him places. Now he's so much easier to walk, and I can actually enjoy our walks. I highly recommend Mango Dogs.

Amber was an incredibly reactive dog before we started with Mango Dogs. She would bark at every person and dog that came remotely close to us. This program has completely turned around the way she reacts to people and dogs around her. She has also stopped pulling on the leash and is even a great listener when off leash at the parl. I HIGHLY recommend Taylor.

The Dog Who Started Mango Dogs

Twenty years ago I got my first dog Phoenix. He was a shelter dog and I had no idea what I was doing. I took him to training (purely positive techniques) and he did not do well. After months of training I was still dealing with terrible leash pulling issues and could not let him off leash because his life revolved around trying to kill animals. Disillusioned, I decided to dive head first into the newly emerging Balanced Dog Training world so that I could actually fix my dogs issues, and start to enjoy our life together. After going to dog training school and traveling the world seeking the best and brightest, I decided to become a dog training who focuses on behavioural issues, reactivity and aggression. All these years later and I'm still devoting my life to helping dog owners who are struggling. I know your pain, in fact my back is still jacked up from those early years, but know that I can help. Ted Efthymiadis

Hey Guys! I've been servicing Nova Scotian dog owners since 2009. I’ve trained with many of the highest level dog trainers in North America and I've also traveled the world holding seminars for other dog trainers.

I work with dogs with issues. You name the behavioural issue and I've fixed it hundreds of times. If your dog is aggressive or reactive, I've got your back, that's I specialize in.

I have an awesome wife, 6 year old daughter, 2 years old son, and 2 awesome dogs Dax and Schooner. I live in beautiful Brookside NS and serve Halifax regional municipality.

I’ve been a proud professional member of the international association of canine professionals for many years.

I'll formulate a program specific to your dog to ensure maximum, lasting results. Nothing cookie-cutter about us. I've worked with 1000's of dogs of all breeds, and trained countless hard-to-train breeds to be reliable off-leash.

I help people trust their dogs again, and in a reasonable amount of time.  Most of the people who contact me think their dog is the worst of the worst. It’s incredibly rare that I can’t help a dog. I have rehabilitated more reactive and aggressive dogs than anyone on the east coast of Canada.

If you are struggling with off-leash training, leash reactivity, behavioural issues, and aggression rehabilitation I can help. You won't scare us, we've seen and done it all.

Justine Halliday

Hey! I'm Justine Halliday. I handle all of the puppy programs but also cover many older clients too. Off leash training and reactivity cases and loads of other behavioural issues. I have three dogs with completely different sets of needs and personalities. Ellie and Peanut are sweet, social, obedient dogs who were fairly easy to train. Gus is sweet and smart too, however he quickly displayed a lot of behavioural issues at only a few months old - resource guarding, leash reactivity, and a snappy mouth to manage. His behaviour was becoming very stressful on our home.

After consulting a few trainers around the province, we connected with Ted at Mango Dogs; he's been a game-changer. With his strategy and support we are finally on the right path and it has inspired me to take the leap I’ve been wanting to for years - help other people feel more empowered and live happier lives with their dogs.

With my help, whether or are struggling or just want to start out in the right foot, you will gain confidence, learn how to read your dogs communication, and learn how to guide your dog into making better decisions. Establishing structure and shaping behaviours isn’t impossible, so let me help you get there!

Taylor Zinck

My name is Taylor Zinck the aggression specialist here at Mango Dogs. My dog training journey started when I raced and trained sled dogs in the Canadian sub arctic and then the Yukon and Alaska working with teams competing in the pro circuit and ultimately the Iditarod. As much as I loved working with these 4 legged athletes, I returned home in search of furthering my life with dogs and naturally I called Ted, the owner of Mango Dogs.

Ted had helped my partner Ashley with her dog Roman (Rottie/Pittie mix) Roman has always been a very sweet dog, but very stubborn and frustrating to say the least. He was out of control, terrible to walk, very leash reactive and had bad social skills with other dogs. After signing up with Ted, he’s a completely different dog. Ashley was very consistent with her private training with Ted and Roman and also participated in many group classes to make sure that the results stick over the years.

After mentoring under Ted, I’ve found my niche and since then I’ve never looked back! I’m very focused on dogs with behavioural issues, off leash training, and not afraid to train reactive or aggressive dogs. I currently live in Lakeside NS with my partner Ashley and our two dogs Bo and Roman.

I know what it's like to have a dog who just loses its mind on the leash, and I know how good it can feel to walk that same dog anywhere without issues. My passion is helping dog owners feel the joy of a reliable dog, no matter the problems they started with. My goal is to be the last dog trainer you ever need. Support, Support, Support. I specialize in behavioural problems but I also help with leash walking and off-leash control.

The Mango Dogs Balanced Approach

As balanced trainers, we are able to take the great aspects from each style of training and utilize it where needed.

We use food, treats, praise, toys to encourage our dogs and our clients dogs to do the things that we want them to do. This type of motivation is particularly important when training fearful dogs and dogs with anxiety.

  • Positive methods are easy and fun for anyone to implement
  • Positive methods keep the dog being trained happy and engaged

Where things fall apart...

  • Positive based methods are un-reliable when the distraction is very high
  • Many of our clients do not want to have to carry around treats for the rest of their dogs life

Positive only training works reasonably well... until it doesn't

Our training works in the real world. At your front door. On your walks, at the park, anywhere!

Using Corrections And E-collars

But all is not lost. We can also use corrections to keep your dog accountable and make them more reliable. Corrective techniques are incredible when looking to STOP bad behaviours.

We use food, toys praise wherever we can, and correction whenever we must.

E-collar training is an essential part of training hard to train dogs off leash, we routinely train beagles, huskies, even wolf hybrids off leash. It's versatile because it can be used to stop many bad behaviours, and can be used while on leash, off leash, in the house, in the yard, or at the park.

For the walk doctor program we typically use a prong collars for corrections.

The e-collars we use have 3 modes. Tone, Vibration, and Pulse Correction. The pulse correction feels like a Tens Unit that chiropractors and physiotherapy clinics use as a muscle stimulator. This pulse correction is adjustable from 1-100 levels which makes it a versatile tool that can be used on dogs of all sensitivity levels.

100% Satisfaction Guarantee

We are so confident that you will get great results that we provide one year of ongoing service as needed. If our clients require extra assistance we offer it at no additional cost. If you do the work, we will help you for as long as needed at no extra cost! ****Some exceptions apply, please ask your trainer for more details. ****
