We hired Mango Dogs to help us train our dog Cindy. We were specifically looking for an e-collar course as my ultimate goal was to be able to take her off leash. Also wanted help with recall and general obedience including a few issues like door dashing and fence jumping. We work with Jared and he’s great. They have a well thought out course that takes the dog step by step through introduction to the e-collar, impulse control, then moving on to tougher tasks. Part of the reason I wanted to hire a professional was for the structure as I felt like I had plateaud in what I could teach her myself from individual command videos on YouTube. We did the transform your dog in four weeks program as our dog isn’t aggressive or super reactive. We are about 5 weeks in (we had a weeklong vacation during it) and have seen significant improvement in Cindy’s impulse control. She walks without pulling, is checking in with us more frequently, and is no longer chasing squirrels and cats. She has calmed in greeting people and generally listens to commands more. She has become less manic in general and I feel more comfortable bringing her places without having to have a death grip on a short leash. I have been able to take her off leash entirely in specific low distraction scenarios like hikes and she has stayed near me and checked in frequently. We still have some work to do, but Jared and the team have committed to continuing to work with us to get Cindy to exactly where we want her. We started group lessons this week and they are definitely valuable, providing needed distraction from people and other dogs to further proof Cindy’s impulse control. We are happy with our progress so far through 5 weeks and will update this review as we continue!

K-Line

I work with a Belgian Malinois named K-line, who was basically a one-dog whirlwind of reactivity: cars, bikes, leaves… you name it, she barked at it. We started training when she was about six months old, and I quickly realized this wasn’t about training her… it was about training me to be a better handler.
